Characteristics, Uses, and Fun Facts
Toad Lily is perhaps best known for its unique flowers! Featuring small, orchid-like flowers, appearing at the ends of the stems in small clusters of 2-3 flowers each. White to pale lilac flowers with heavy purple spotting. Arching, unbranched stems grow upright to 2-3' tall.
Toad Lilies look great planted with other shade garden plants like hostas, anemones, ferns, false spirea, and heucheras.
The sap of Toad Lily, when rubbed all over your hands, is said to make it easier to catch frogs and toads by making them less slippery, hence the name.
